“This is a tragic day for the Cal Poly Pomona community. We are deeply saddened by the death of one our students, Ivan Arturo Aguilar. We extend our deepest sympathies to his friends and family during this painful time,” said University President Michael Ortiz.
At the request of university police, the Pomona Police Department is handling the investigation into the accident and interviewing witnesses.
The collision caused the closure of Kellogg Drive between South Campus Drive and Red Gum Lane. Kellogg Drive is expected to remain closed into Thursday night, and reopen by Friday morning. During the closure, motorists are asked to use University Drive to enter campus.
