His career encompasses online education, professional development through extended learning, international recruitment, introducing innovative teaching technology, and partnering with companies and organizations.

“This is a great day for the College of the Extended University and the entire campus community,” denBoer said. “Dr. Evans has the innovative leadership and business skills needed to advance programs that can expand Cal Poly Pomona regionally and globally. He has the vision and expertise to address the changing dynamics of instruction and enable us to develop novel programs to serve the region.”

“I am very excited to join the Cal Poly Pomona family,” Evans said. “This is a university with an exceptional academic reputation, which offers numerous opportunities for extended education and distance learning. I look forward to working with the entire academic community as we truly extend the university.”

Evans holds a doctoral degree in chemical engineering science from Caltech and earned his bachelor’s degree in physics and chemical engineering at Brigham Young University. He will replace interim dean and Collins College Professor Jerry Chesser, who led the CEU over the past year.
