It’s a Bug Affair at Cal Poly Pomona
Live and preserved insects from around the world will be on display at the Insect Fair in AGRIscapes on Saturday, July 14 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Visitors will be able to touch all types of creepy crawlers, such as millipedes and Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches.
Admission is $2 for adults, $1 for children ages 4 to 12 and free for children 3 and under. Parking is available in Lot U next to the Farm Store and is $3. AGRIscapes is located next to the Farm Store.
The fair will feature insects with vibrant colors, interesting textures, and unusual shapes and sizes. Several exhibits will show how insects impact our daily lives, as well as careers in entomology.
The Insect Fair is open to the public, and proceeds will benefit future entomology courses, as well as building and maintaining the university's insect collection. This event is a separate, smaller one than the annual Insect Fair held in October.
Amanda Kaufmann, an instructor in the plant science department, is organizing the fair along with students, faculty and staff from the College of Agriculture.
