'Window to the West' Art Exhibit
The "Window to the West" art exhibit at the W. Keith and Janet Kellogg University Art Gallery illustrates the history and landscape of the American West. Drawn from the Don Huntley Western Art Collection, the oil-on-canvas pieces include landscapes, wildlife, cowboy and buckaroo art, and Native American art.
The exhibit is open Jan. 12 to Feb. 20. Gallery hours are Tuesday to Friday, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and on Saturday, from noon to 4 p.m.
Huntley, a 1960 animal husbandry alumnus, is a successful businessman and avid art collector. Over the last three decades, he has built an impressive collection of Western art by rising contemporary artists. A number of pieces have been donated to the university, and some are included in the exhibit. Well-known artists in the exhibit include Bill Anton, Bonnie Marris and Ralph Oberg.
"'Window to the West' is a testament to Don Huntley's many passions, including supporting higher education and collecting Western art. Cal Poly Pomona is grateful he has shared his private collection with the university and greater community," says the university president, Michael Ortiz. "We are certain this unique compilation of Western art will add to the community's culture and conversation."
