CSU Works to Ensure Employees Receive Paychecks
In response to Gov. Schwarzenegger's signing of an executive order to cut the pay of state workers to the federal minimum wage until a budget is passed, CSU Chancellor Charles B. Reed reiterated that CSU employees will continue receiving their regular paychecks while the university seeks ways to cooperate with the state to minimize the impact on the general fund.

School Supplies Donations Needed
School supplies are needed to support Cal Poly Pomona students who volunteer at the Homework Center, which is located at the Pomona Public Library. Staff Council members will collect supplies through Sept. 15 at drop boxes located throughout campus.

Hundreds of International Students Learn English at CPELI
This summer, CPELI plays host to about 900 middle and high school students from China, Taiwan and Korea. Students stay at the residence halls, eat at Los Olivos Commons and learn English through games, songs and discussions.

A Message From the President
After Tuesday morning's earthquake, the university reviewed all buildings on campus. Please rest assured that Cal Poly Pomona facilities have been evaluated and are safe. Immediately following the temblor, we closed both the tower and classroom side of the CLA Building as a precaution and had a seismic specialist review the building's safety. The report from the consultant stated that the CLA Building is structurally sound and safe for use.

Committed to eliminating greenhouse gas emissions on campus, a study group is putting together an action plan this summer that will guide Cal Poly Pomona toward that goal. The implementation plan is the next step under the Presidents Climate Commitment.
