Family Fun Day May 24th
Family Fun Days offer a free, arts-centered activity for children and their families every fourth Saturday afternoon from 1-4 p.m. at the Cal Poly Pomona Downtown Center. The next Family Fun Day will be on Saturday, May 24 with a theme of “Art and Diversity in Pomona." Come and learn about the artwork of Pomona through various forms of art and art activities. Healthy snacks and nutrition information will be provided. Every child attending will receive a free book to take home to help build their family library! Make a Difference Essay Contest
The Center for Community Service-Learning is sponsoring an essay contest that reflects students’ real stories of personal and community transformation through service. Participants are encouraged to focus on descriptions of specific events. Prizes include a $500 and two $250 Bronco Bookstore gift cards. All entries must be submitted by 5 p.m. June 15, 2008. Women Needed for Nutritional Study
Dr. Sharonda Wallace, a Cal Poly Pomona assistant professor of Human Nutrition, is participating in a research project with Cal State Fullerton’s Center for the Promotion of Healthy Lifestyles' Nutrition Study. This project is recruiting 300 women who are between 21 and 69 years old to participate in a free online program. The study requires completion of three nutrition questionnaires that are filled out online. Those accepted into the project will be randomly assigned into one of two groups. Time commitment is approximately 15 minutes per week for six weeks, followed by a 15-minute assessment two months later. Course Materials Requisitions Deadline
The deadline for all faculty to submit course materials requisitions for Fall 2008 courses is Friday, May 16. Submitting requisitions as soon as possible to the Bronco Bookstore reduces textbook costs for students by increasing buyback opportunities and used book availability. The online requisition system may be accessed by logging on to http://requisitions.thecampushub.com/Views/LoginView.aspx?bookstore_id=2022. Open Swim Starts Up Again
Faculty and staff are welcome to use the university’s swimming pool Monday through Thursday from noon – 1 p.m. beginning the third week of quarter until the 11th week of the quarter. The cost is $15. See cashiers for payment and then bring receipt to KHP office for a pool pass. The pass may be shared, however ONLY one person per swim hour per pass.
