SAE Team Wins $2,000 For Community Outreach Efforts

Cal Poly Pomona’s Formula SAE team puts its creativity and engineering skills to the test on the race track during annual competitions. Recently, 18 team members applied those same skills – along with patience, enthusiasm and communication – when they volunteered their time to help K-12 students.

Through a partnership with A World in Motion’s Learn Twice Initiative, the team members became mentors to students at local schools, teaching concepts such as force, friction and motion. For their efforts, they were awarded $2,000, which they will use for their annual SAE competition, which will be held in Lincoln, Neb. in June.
