Civil Engineering Students Receive Scholarships

Trevor McGuckin, civil engineering student

Trevor McGuckin, a civil engineering junior, and Shalia Khovananth, a civil engineering senior and general management minor, have each been awarded a $1,500 scholarship from the American Council of Engineering Companies.

The ACEC California is a statewide association of private consulting engineering and land surveying firms. The ACEC is dedicated to aiding both of these professions, protecting the general public, and promoting use of the private sector in the growth and development of California. The members of the association provide services for all phases of planning, designing and constructing projects.

McGuckin and Khovananth's award honors upper-level college students who enrolled in a full-time in an engineering or land surveying curriculum approved by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology.

"After I graduate I plan to attend graduate school to pursue my master's degree in geotechnical engineering. My future career goal is to work for a geotechnical design firm," McGuckin says.

Khovananth says: "My goal is to work for a private civil engineering firm upon graduation in project management. After a couple years of experience, I plan to obtain my MBA."
